MCGUIRE, Sally Jan 17, 1939 – Jun 11, 2019

Sally Kaye McGuire, 80, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday evening, June 11, 2019, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born Jan. 17, 1939, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy June (Lenon) Hunter.
Sally was a 1957 graduate of Logansport High School.
During her freshman year in high school, she met sophomore Oris McGuire Jr. It wasn’t long before the two became high school sweethearts. Following graduation, Oris enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. During a visit to San Francisco, where he was stationed, the young couple walked up the windiest street in the United States, Lombard Street. After reaching the top, Oris proposed to Sally and she said “Yes.” On Valentine’s Day 1960, in the former Market Street United Methodist Church, Sally and Oris were wed in Holy Matrimony.
Following high school, Sally worked in the office at Logansport Machine Company, leaving there when her children were born. For 40 years, she worked as the bookkeeper for Fernbaugh’s Jewelry Store which she co-owned with her husband.
Sally was an immaculate housekeeper. Oris once asked her if she’d like to build a new home and she said, “No, I’d rather travel and see the world.” And that they did. They enjoyed many vacations together as well as traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed keeping in touch with her classmates at monthly luncheons. Sally’s children and grandchildren kept her young and she enjoyed going to all of their activities.
Surviving with her husband, Oris, of 59 years are two children and their spouses: Derek and Diana McGuire of Logansport, and Lori and Brian Van Duyne of Plymouth; four grandchildren: Zachary and his wife Sarah McGuire, Jordan McGuire, Kendall McGuire, Chase VanDuyne and Noah VanDuyne; two great-grandchildren: Hayden and Ezekiel McGuire; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Rick McClure, Logansport; and nephews, Rodney McClure, John McClure and David McClure and their families.
A funeral service celebrating Sally’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Vernon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 14 at the funeral chapel.
