MCCAIN, J. Robert Dec 25, 1947 – Sep 2, 2020

J. Robert “Bob” McCain, 72, of rural Camden, passed away at his home at 5:36 on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020. He was born in Logansport on Dec. 25, 1947, to the late John R and Frances Pauline (Polly) Henderson McCain.
Bob was a telephone lineman for the Camden Telephone Co. and then for TDS Telecom until his retirement. Bob served in the U.S. Army. His marriage was Dec. 10, 1967, at the Camden First Baptist Church to Elaine Britton, and she survives.
Bob served 30 years on the Carroll County Area Plan Commission, many of those as president. He also served on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Economic Development Commission, 9-1-1 Advisory Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #211 F & AM, American Legion Post 413 and the Camden-Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department. Bob was a former Boy Scout and received the Eagle Scout Award.
Also surviving are a daughter, Ellen Dunning, of Camden; a son, Paul (Jennifer) McCain, of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Megan, Jesse, Robbie and Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David C. (Butch) McCain.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2020, at Cree Funeral Home, Camden, where Masonic rites will be held at 6 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Camden Cemetery with military graveside rites by the U.S. Army and Carroll County Veterans Honor Guard and officiated by Pastor Ed Selvidge. Last alarm presented by the Camden-Jackson Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
