Charles Hugh Franklin, age 84, Mt. Airy

Charles Hugh Franklin, age 84 of Mt. Airy, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 07, 2020, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on April 08, 1936, he was a son of the late Carl Bell Franklin & Myrtie Mae Jameson Franklin. Charles started work in 1950 at the young age of 14 and retired at age 70 from Fieldale Farms Corporation with over 55 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and landscaping his yards. Charles was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where he was involved in various church activities, was named Deacon Emeritus, and was a part of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Most of all, he loved his family very much and doted on his three granddaughters.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Joe Franklin & sister, Edith Mae Watson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Imogene Free Franklin of Mt. Airy, GA; daughter & significant other, Paige Franklin & Richard Garner of Mt. Airy, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Penelope “Penny” & Daniel Gorsuch of Bellbrook, OH; grandchildren, Brittany Gorsuch; Elizabeth Gorsuch & fiancé, Philip Uhlig; & Katherine Gorsuch; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, & friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Webb officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests all donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 2175 Antioch Church Road, Mt. Airy, GA. 30563
