Swanson, Bruce Hiram

Bruce Swanson, age 91, of Cypress, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his wife on January 6, 2016. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois where he attended Washington Irving School. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and was involved in the “D” Day invasion of Normandy (Operation Overlord). He was recently appointed a Chevalier (Knight) of the National Order of the Legion of Honor of France along with the medal for his service in Normandy.

He retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation in Fullerton in 1986 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Florence; his children, Dale, Bruce, Barbara, Jeannette, Pauline and Pam; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was one of a kind and will always live in our hearts and those who were lucky enough to have known him. His memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, January 24th at Hope Lutheran Church, 13841 Milton Ave, Westminster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the dialysis center in Santa Ana.
