Joyce Mae Vucurevich, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Dec. 4, 2016. Joyce was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Long Beach, California, to Dale Elizabeth and Bryan Groseclose.
In 1945 she graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, California. She was a member of the tennis team and the Girls Athletic Association. She was also President of the craft club her senior year. Joyce enjoyed swimming, body surfing, skating and horseback riding.
While working at the café in the bowling alley in Bisbee, Arizona, she met her husband William (Bill) Vucurevich. They were married on Valentines Day, 1954, in Bisbee at the Serbian Orthodox Church. While living in Bisbee, their two sons, Bill and Steve, were born. The family moved to Fairfield, California, in 1961. Joyce was involved in her sons’ schooling as a room mother and also as Cub Scout leader for their troop.
Joyce was very artistic. She made cakes for weddings and other special occasions. Joyce also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts, and was an avid gardener. Joyce loved all kinds of animals, especially her dogs and bird.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Bill (Judy) and Steve (Julie); grandchildren, Will (Erin) and Morgan (David) DeLaHoz, Daniel, Sarah and Timothy Vucurevich; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Thornhill, Will and Micah Vucurevich. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Richard) Sanders; nephew, Kenny Nicholson; and niece, Cindy (Gene) Thome; plus many extended family members.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her older brother, James; and her husband of 56 years, Bill.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Calvary Chapel Solano, 1180 Western St., Fairfield, CA. Interment will be private with family.
