Longtime Tehachapi resident of 28 years, Joseph Salvador passed away at his home on Jan. 7, 2016.
Joseph was born in Fresno on Oct. 29, 1928, to Charlotte C. (Lamore) and Tony Salvador. At the age of 10, he moved to Los Angeles. In 1944, he married Eileen Weddell and had a son, Daniel. Joseph joined the Army as a paratrooper in mid-1946 and served in Japan. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 7, 1948. After the service, Joseph worked in a body shop, then went to trade school and worked as a sheet metal mechanic for Douglas Aircraft/McDonnell Douglas Corp. for 33 years until his retirement in July 1988. Joseph married Janice Laverne Wrege on Sept. 12, 1967. They were married for 48 happy years. They resided and worked in Santa Monica and then Westminster. Upon his retirement, they moved to Tehachapi.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son Daniel, and sister, Angela Rodela.
He is survived by his wife, brother, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
