Hale Austin Bauernschmidt

Hale Austin Bauernschmidt was born July 16, 1938 in Baltimore, MD to the late Frederick and Hale Bauernschmidt. She was the oldest of 2 children.

Hale graduated from Calvin Coolidge H.S. in Washington D.C. Class of 1956. She married William Herold on June 15, 1957. They lived in many places; Hamilton, IN, Zanesville, OH, and Derry, NH before settling in Ridgecrest/China Lake in 1967. She retired from China Lake Naval Weapons Center in 1997 after 24 years of service. She was a member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Ridgecrest. Hale and Bill moved to Victorville in 1998 where she became a member of St. Hilarys Episcopal Church.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and working on puzzles. But her most favorite activity was to spend time with her family.

Hale was preceded in death by her husband William K. Herold in 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Melody Miller and her husband Eric of Apple Valley; son, John and his wife Connie of Berwyn, IL; grandsons, William Reymond, John William Herold and Samuel Herold; and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her is her brother Frederick and his wife Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church, 11305 Hesperia RD, Hesperia, CA 92345 on Sept. 19 at 10am. Internment will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew RD, Apple Valley.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church in Hales name.
