Sherwin Allen Gillman, M.D.

Born in Chicago, Illinois to Ruth (deceased), and Reuben Gillman, M.D. (deceased), Dr. Gillman attended the University of Wisconsin and received his medical degree and Pediatric training at the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago. He served 2 years in the Air Force and completed training in Allergy and Immunology at USC. He genuinely loved medicine, caring for 3 generations of patients during his 44 years of practice. He enjoyed training doctors from CHOC and UC Irvine pediatric residency programs.
During his career, Dr. Gillman served as Emeritus Chief of the PSF and President of the Medical staff at CHOC, and volunteered as the director of the ‘s Asthma Camp program for 40 years. He was a principal investigator in numerous research studies hoping to bring improved therapies for asthmatics. He enjoyed serving in leadership positions at Temple Beth Sholom, El Sereno Estates and national causes.
Beloved husband to Bonnie for 52 years, cherished brother to Geri Schulman and Marcia Gillman, loving father to Michael (Rebecca), Adam (Michele) and Margo Gillman; adoring grandfather to Benjamin, Jacob, Daniel, Alex and David Gillman. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassion for family, colleagues and patients.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 15th at 1:00 PM at Temple Beth Sholom, 2625 N. Tustin Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705. Burial to follow at Pacific View Memorial Park Corona del Mar, CA.
