Castillo, AlfredAfter 83 years of life, Alfredo Carlos Castillo passed away on January 17, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Alfredo was born on September 4, 1932 in San Onofre, California. He served his country as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. Upon returning home he was employed as an officer for the Laguna Beach Police Department. It was at that time when Alfredo met his first wife Emily. They had three children, Alfred Jr., Linda and Robert. Alfredo and Emily eventually divorced and he moved to San Clemente where he met and married his second wife Maria. Alfredo and Maria had two children, Alfredo Jr. and Ricky. He also became the step-father of Maria’s two children, Aida and Jaime. Alfredo worked for the Tri City Water district in San Clemente where he held the position of foreman. He also worked for Capistrano Valley High School as a Campus Supervisor. In addition to the family members already mentioned, Alfredo is survived by two other children, Timothy Castillo and Stephanie Hille; as well as his loving sisters, Virginia Sandoval, Delores Gomez and Martha Bailey. Alfredo’s brother, Manuel Perez preceded him in death. Alfredo had many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. While in the hospital, he was blessed to have many family members and friends at his bedside. Of great support was the Avalos Family. Alfredo was very proud of his Mexican heritage and did not hesitate to share his Hispanic roots with anyone. He will be best remembered for organizing dances at the San Clemente Moose Lodge that featured Mexican music. These dances were very popular and greatly appreciated by the Hispanic community. Alfredo had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing a good story. He also enjoyed a good Mariachi band. Alfredo’s kindness and his enthusiasm for life will be missed by his loving family and friends.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, Jan. 29th at 5:00 PM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 105 N. Esperanza, in San Clemente. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 30th beginning at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Alfredo will be laid to rest at Ascension Cemetery, 24754 Trabuco Road in Lake Forest, at 12:30 PM on Saturday, Jan. 30th.
