Obituary: Jewel Heart 1956 – 2016

Jewel Heart (Saint Joy), 60, of Cornville, AZ, went home to her Lord and Master Jesus Christ on March 31, 2016, peacefully passing in Sedona, AZ. ALMIGHTY GOD and LORD AND MASTER JESUS CHRIST blessed her to survive colon and liver cancer diagnosis for 18 months; her body was relatively pain-free until the last few days of her life. GOD IS FAITHFUL TO HIS DEVOTEES.

Spiritual teachers and students in four countries around the world, the ministers at Solid Rock Church of Sedona, all of the staff at Mt. Hope Foods Naturally, Country Bank of Arizona, Hospice Compassus, and neighbors prayed for Saint Joy. Jewel Heart was born in Glendale, CA January 17, 1956.

She moved to the Verde Valley 20 years ago, where she clerked at Sedona’s Connelly’s Market and Mt. Hope Foods Naturally in Cottonwood for many years. 12 years ago she became a resident monk at The Ashram of Enlightenment USA and Europe, a Hindu-Christian Monastery based in Cornville, AZ, and served as faithful assistant to the Spiritual Director for the past 10 years.

She prayed regularly for the patients, staff and their friends and relatives at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood.

September 20, 2015, she was given the rare spiritual honorific title of Saint; her spiritual name was changed to Saint Joy. Her experience of GOD, Jesus Christ, study of the Scriptures, meditation and prayer brought Great Joy and Peace. Naturally humble, Saint Joy was kind and compassionate to everyone, including neighborhood birds, dogs, and deer. Her body was cremated on April 2, at Camp Verde Bueler Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service was held at The Enlightenment Center, in Cornville, AZ, on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016. She is remembered dearly by all.
