Jason Lee Pfaff, 42, of Kingman passed away on Feb. 21, 2016, in his home from complications due to a longstanding illness.

Jason was born in Breckenridge, Minn., on Jan. 16, 1974. He graduated from Lake Havasu high school in 1992 and continued on to school at Mohave Community College. It was in Lake Havasu that his creativity and passion for cooking began, and he had a wonderful mentor who worked with him during that time.

In 1994 he moved to Las Vegas, and after acquiring more experience he found his niche at the Mirage, working for Steve Wynn. When the new Wynn venture of the Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi, Miss., became a reality, Jason moved south in 1999 to continue to be part of the opening team. His true talent shined as the Executive Chef at the resort’s premiere restaurant, Porthouse. It was during this time he helped the restaurant acquire its 4-Star and 4-Diamond ratings.

Jason married his best friend in 2001. Garrett was born later that year, and Carson came along in July of 2005. When Hurricane Katrina happened in August of 2005, it was a difficult time, and the family of four were on the road to Kingman, to be with family. Jason and Jennifer purchased the Hotel Brunswick in Kingman in 2006, and managed the hotel and restaurant until 2009.

Jason was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, and he accepted all people for what they were, without question. Jason’s love was his boys, and Garrett and Carson felt that no matter what, he was always there for them, and that they had many good times inventing and building things together. He always enjoyed being with people, playing pool, golfing, and a good game of Texas Hold ‘Em.

Jason is survived by Jennifer, his wife of 14 years; his sons, Garrett Lee, 14, and Carson Jay, 10; his father and mother, Gary and Nancy Pfaff; his brothers, Corey Pfaff (Kim and Christopher) of Seattle and Joel Pfaff (Kat and Arielle) of Reno, Nev.; his grandfather, A. Eugene Pfaff of Fargo, N.D.; his good friend, Richard Lawson of St. George, Utah; and multiple loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful family, friends and neighbors for being there, and for supporting them at this time.

The memorial service will be held in Sutton Funeral Home, Kingman, at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016.
