Patricia Ellen Ford died March 3, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born in Elyria, OH on a beautiful sunny day as the oldest daughter of Patrick and Virginia Radican. She grew up there and graduated from Elyria High School. She spent her freshman year of college at St. Mary’s of the Springs College in Columbus, OH. She then transferred to the University of Dayton where she received her BS degree in Business Administration. She was the Homecoming Queen at UD in 1950.
After graduation she worked at the Standard Register Company in Dayton as the Assistant to the Vice President of Labor Relations and then as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary /Treasurer.
Patricia met the love of her life, David, in college and they married after he obtained his Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration. In light of the job opportunities for David she was very fortunate to have lived in Dayton, New Rochelle, NY and Nashville before settling in Phoenix in 1991.
After the children were in college she continued to use her business background and experience working in real estate, fundraising, college guidance counseling and ombudsman programs. She was a member of the Christ Child Society for almost 40 years. It was her privilege to serve in every imaginable capacity and some that she couldn’t even imagine. She was also Chairperson of the Phoenix Fire Department’s Baby Shots Immunization Program of which she was particularly proud.
She was fortunate to travel to dozens of countries and had wonderful memories of her trips to all parts of the world as well as the friendships she made on those trips. One of her special memories was her trip to Ireland with her four children to celebrate her 75th birthday. She often wondered how they all survived in a minivan for 8 days driving all over Ireland.
Her belief was always that education is endless and can be as broadening as you care to make it no matter how young or old you are.
Patricia was blessed with four children: David (Kris), Daniel (Kathy), Nanette and Tim along with 6 grandchildren: David (Christine), Caitlin (Tom), Patrick (Ashley), Shannon, Jordan and Juliet and 5 great grandchildren: Reagan, Avery, Kelly, Charlotte and Piper. They all serve as an everlasting example of what she and David built as a family.
She was the last of her siblings having been pre- deceased by her sister Nancy (Ron) and brothers Henry (Joanne) and John. Having joined them in Heaven we know they have welcomed her home.
My life has been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now, He set me free.
Memorials may be made to the ASPCA (search on Memorial donation) or the charity of your choice.
