ARIZONA — Margaret “Peggy” O’Dell died Sept. 20, 2017, in Tucson, Ariz.
Peggy’s life journey began with her birth in New York City on Nov. 2, 1927.
Raised on Long Island, Peggy graduated from high school at the age of 16. Too young to follow her desire to attend nursing school, she went to work at a nearby air base, where she met the love of her life, and her husband of 54 years, Colonel Jack C. O’Dell.
Peggy devoted the next portion of her life to her husband and his career, gladly moving across the country and around the world with their growing family. After Jack’s retirement from the military, Peggy and Jack moved to Washington state. They settled first in the Seattle area, then moved to Ocean Park, on the Long Beach Peninsula, where Peggy could enjoy, full-time, her love of the beach and the ocean. Together, they enjoyed clamming and salmon fishing, and, most importantly, spending time with their grandchildren.
Following her husband’s death in 2000, Peggy, at the age of 72, obtained her real estate license, and then went on to develop a successful career in real estate as co-owner of a real estate company. After retiring from that career, Peggy moved to the Tucson, Arizona area to be closer to family there. Her remarkable life came to an end in Tucson on Sept. 20, 2017.
Peggy lost her son Timothy to cancer several years ago. She is survived by her four remaining children: Wayne, Susan, Michael and John, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Omega Funeral Home, 223 SE 122nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97233, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27.//?#You can find the complete original obituary on this website.
