Robert Elton Huff, 84, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away September 22, 2017, at SOVAH Health in Martinsville, Virginia. He was born July 21, 1933, in Floyd, Virginia, to the late Thomas Frank Huff and Margaret Elizabeth Underwood Huff. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Clark, Edgar Clark and Silas Huff, and three sisters, Erma Clark Brogan, Edna Clark Bower, and Annie “Irene” Huff Midkiff.
Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Billie Adams Huff, of the home; by one daughter, Christy Huff Landon, son-in-law Rob Landon, and grandson Josh Landon; one sister, Frances Kraemer; and two brothers, Glenwood Huff and David Huff.
Robert served on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1957 and was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserves in 1961. He worked many years as a carpenter until retiring from Bill Adkins Construction Corporation to help care for his grandson. He was a faithful Christian and longtime member of Fieldale Baptist Church, where he had served over the years as a Deacon, Trustee, and youth leader. He also served for many years as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, helping to build houses within the Martinsville-Henry County community. A carpenter and master craftsman who also built beautiful grandfather clocks, Robert could build, repair or troubleshoot most anything and was known by family and friends as someone who was always willing to use his talents to help others. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, at Fieldale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Allen Jackson, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday evening, September 25, at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., in Martinsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Fieldale Baptist Church, P.O. Box 98, Fieldale, VA 24089.
