George W. Burruss, Jr., 71, of Richardsville passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Burruss retired from Pet Dairy after many years of service and also spent many years working at Meadow Gold Dairy. He was a member of Richardsville United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Richardsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Mr. Burruss had served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Rene Burruss; two children Rebecca and her husband, David Squeglia of Orange and George (Bubba) Burruss and his girlfriend, Paula of Richardsville; step-daughter Regina and her husband Robert Baucom; five other step-children; four grandchildren Sara Squeglia, Kamron and Josh Baucom and Breanna Gordon; and seven step-grandchildren; three brothers Robert Burruss, Johnny Burruss and Basil (Red) Burruss; and sister Cheryl Burkhalter. He was preceded in death by his parents George Burruss Sr. and Ruby Lee Burruss; four siblings Donald Burruss, Shirley Williamson, Irma Merryman and Verna Sorrell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Richardsville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
