Margilee (Ryan) Cooley was born the fourth of six children on Sept. 21, 1924 in Haskell County, Texas, to Henry Clifton Ryan and Carrie Bell (Rea) Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Joseph Alvin Cooley, her parents, both of her brothers, Wysong Stanley Ryan and Melford Conrad Ryan and one sister, Earleen Fay (Ryan) Kendrick.
She is survived by two daughters, Nada Ruth Phillips and husband, Dennis Phillips, and Reba Jo Hilgers; seven grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Amanda Phillips, Eric and Krystal Phillips, Daron and Christy Phillips, Derek and Kelly Phillips, Dane and Lindsey Phillips, Matthew and Heather Hilgers, and Blakely and Aaron Scott; 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Katherine Marian Stewart and Madra Jean Marrs, along with many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, Texas, with the Rev. Jarrell Sharp officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas.
