James Rentfrow VII went to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2016, at 8:15 p.m. He passed away at the Royse City Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 83.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1932, the son of James Monroe Rentfrow VI and Tollie Francis Foster Rentfrow.
James married Marilyn Joy Piatt on Dec. 1, 1955. They farmed around Morton and Demmit, Texas. Five years later, he attended Mortuary School in Dallas. James worked for several funeral homes in the Dallas area and eventually opened Rentfrow Funeral Home in Caddo Mills until he sold the business in 2010. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills.
On Dec. 5, James and Marilyn celebrated 60 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Rentfrow of Heath; his two children, son James Monroe Rentfrow VIII and wife LeeAnn Rentfrow of Caddo Mills; daughter, Terresa Joy Brown and husband Ken Brown of Heath; sister, Fay West of Enid, Okla; five grandchildren: James Monroe Rentfrow, IX (Jimmy) and wife Emillie of Plano, Christopher Michael Rentfrow of Dallas, Jennifer Lynn Tucker and husband Zach of Rowlett, Travis Austin Brown of Heath, Shelby Nicole Lay and husband Srun of Wylie and one great-grandchild, Kenleigh Joy Lay of Wylie.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Sunday, at Lynch Funeral Home in Caddo Mills. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Caddo Mills. Interment to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Caddo Mills.
