Francisco Perez, 71, formerly of Commerce, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in Garland.
Francisco “Frank” Perez was born in Laredo, Texas, to Angelica and Juventino Perez on Oct. 14, 1944. He grew up in Kingsville, Texas, where he excelled in football, basketball, and especially baseball.
He was retired from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he was the director of disability services. He was a member of the Highland Meadows Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Garland.
He married Olga Silvas on June 29, 1968. Together they raised three children in Commerce, until Olga’s death Sept. 13, 1995.
He married Gloria Ochoa on Jan. 1, 2004. They lived in Commerce and Kingsville, until her death March 31, 2012.
Frank was an Army Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his daughters, Marissa Perez of Garland and Angelica Cummings and son-in-law Kevin Cummings of Richardson; his son, Adrian Perez and daughter-in-law Sarah Perez of Fort Worth; his granddaughter, Olivia Perez; his stepsons, Michael and Danny Juarez; his stepgranddaughter, Mileena; and his brother, Josh Perez of Ennis.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olga; his second wife, Gloria; his parents; and his siblings, Edna Perez, Mayda Olvera, and Joel Perez.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 2514 N. Jupiter Road in Garland, (75044).
Visitation is today, Jan. 12, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce.
