Funeral services for Elvis “Duane” Lively, 60, of Oakwood will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Long Lake Baptist Church in Tucker with Rev. Jimmy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Livelyville Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Lively passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at ETMC in Fairfield, Texas.
He was born March 12, 1955, to Elvis Oren Lively and Carol Jean Potter Lively in Palestine, Texas. Mr. Lively worked at TDCJ as a correctional officer and then as an over the road driver before retiring. He was a member of Long Lake Baptist Church. He loved to play guitar and sing gospel music and he is singing with his father in heaven right now. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elvis Oren Lively and his sister, Betty Nordstrom. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie Lively; mother, Carol Jean Lively; brothers, Glenn Lively and Raymond Lively; sisters, Thelma Griffin and Shirley Porter; sons, Lynn Vaughan and wife Crystal of Palestine, John Lively and wife Candis of Palestine, Christopher Lively and wife Lindsey of Palestine, Corey Lively and wife Yvonne of Arnold, Maryland; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dustin Gray, Devin Gray, Haden Gray, Gage Lively, Roman Vaughan, and Zane Vaughan.
In lieu of flowers per Duane’s request, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Herrington/ Land of Memory Funeral Home.
