GALESBURG — Margaret L. Palmer, 77, of Cameron, passed away at 1:47 a.m. at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center in Galesburg.
Margaret was born on Nov. 18, 1938 in Cameron, and is the daughter of Ira William and Harriett May Danforth Mackey. She was reared in Cameron, where she attended it’s schools, and she graduated from Galesburg High School with the class of 1956. She then attended for a time at Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Margaret was married to David L. Palmer on Nov. 30, 1958 in Cameron, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2013. Margaret was a homemaker in her own home. She in earlier years was a member of the Ladies Golf League at Lake Bracken. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Galesburg.
She and David loved the Mississippi river and going boating and fishing. She also was interested and always active in the affairs of Cameron. Margaret was an avid owl collector and loved owls. She also for a time served on the Silent Home Cemetery Board and was it’s treasurer. Margaret was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball Fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Herrin of Galesburg, and three granddaughters, Marcy (Brad) Davis of Galesburg, Jenelle Herrin of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer (Ken) Bukowski of Houston, Texas. There are three great grandchildren also surviving, Braden and Benton Davis and Ava Bukowski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, David.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at the Cameron Christian Church. Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends at the Cameron Christian Church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
