VALDESE Cade Lawson Arrowood, 16, of Valdese, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. Cade was born in Morganton, May 11, 2001, to David and Kendra Arrowood. Cade was a rising junior at Draughn High School, where he played football, basketball and his true love, baseball. In addition to pitching and playing first base on the Draughn Wildcats varsity baseball team, Cade also played travel baseball for the Dry Pond team in Mooresville. Cade was an active member of Morganton First Church of God, and he was employed by the church’s Children in Action program where he was adored by the children who all loved and looked up to “Mr. Cade.” Cade will always be remembered for his huge heart, his positive attitude, his ability to light up a room with his sweet smile and easy laugh, and his knowledge of sports trivia. In addition to his parents, Cade is survived by his brother, Colton (Brittanni); his great-grandparents, Clyde Curtis, James McFarland, and Susie Penley; his grandparents, Connie McFarland, Kenneth McFarland (Doris), and Joyce Phipps (Roscoe); his uncles, Johnny Arrowood, Keith Clark (Carol), Haze McFarland (Kelly); his aunt, Crystal Reed (Terry); and numerous cousins, extended family, teammates, and friends. A celebration of life service honoring Cade will be held Sunday, Aug. 13, at 3 p.m. in the Draughn High School gymnasium with the pastors Ron Arndt, Jon McDivitt, and Chip Taylor officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Burke Memorial Park. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, all memorials be made to the Cade Arrowood Scholarship Fund, with checks payable to Draughn High School, 709 Lovelady Rd. NE, Valdese, NC 28690.
