Stewart, Floyd T.

Floyd T. Stewart, 92, of Palmer Township, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Old Orchard Health Care Center. Born December 6, 1923, in Moore Township, PA, he was a son of the late William and Jennie Weiss Stewart. He and his wife, the former Dorothy E. Vliet, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on March 15, 2015. Floyd retired from Ingersoll Rand Company where he worked for many years. He graduated from Nazareth High School Class of 1942. Floyd served as a corporal with the US Army during WWII in Company B 702nd Tank Battalion, 80th Division, seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge. Years ago he coached little league baseball in Palmer Township. He enjoyed attending “Red Devils” reunions, hunting, bowling, camping and traveling. Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorothy, are two daughters, Karen Heffelfinger, of Slatington and Kathy E. Matthews, of Easton; eight grandchildren, Kris, Tyler and Sarah Matthews, Craig Stewart, Vernae Horwath, Curt Stewart, Joseph DeSantis and Beth Carreras; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Craig T. Stewart and two brothers, George and Elwood Stewart. Services will be held at 11am Tuesday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Call Tuesday 10-11am in the funeral home. Burial will in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
