Regina C. ‘Jeanie’ Murren

Regina C. “Jeanie” Murren, 94, of Hanover, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. She was the wife of Claude J. Murren who died April 14, 2008.

Born October 19, 1922 in Adams County, she was the daughter of Timothy F. and Marguerite C. (Livelsberger) Smith.

Jeanie was retired from Middleburg Manufacturing Co. in Hanover after 40 years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, where she was a health care minister, a Sacristan for 36 years and a Eucharistic minister for over 30 years. She was a member of SAVES and enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving is her daughter, Leona M. Murren of Hanover; a sister, Loretta J. Hertz of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Mary M. Groft, Anna M. Hertz, Mark J., Carroll T. “Pete”, John H., Donald F., Robert A. and James C. Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at Sacred Heart Basilica in Edgegrove, with Rev. Joseph R. Howard and Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown with recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be; Ron Zumbrum, Dan, Brian, Kevin, Mike and Joe Smith.
