Rance Brubaker

Rance Brubaker, 73, of Middle River, MD died on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Franklin Square Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late John Kurtz Brubaker and Dorothy Engle Sangrey.

He was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 1960, attended York Junior College, 1965-1967 and attended and graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1969. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years from 1960-1964, spending a period of that time in Iceland. He was a Taping Engineer at WGAL-TV while in college and prior to college, 1964-1969. After graduating from Elizabethtown College in 1969 with a degree in Business Administration, he was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, Illinois in the finance department. He returned to Lancaster in 1973 and was employed by York Borg Warner and later Keller Industries in Lewisberry and in 1980 transferred to Milford, VA. He later worked in Maryland in finance and credit for various companies.

Rance enjoyed playing basketball in high school and later on senior teams. He loved sports, traveling, boating and swimming and especially enjoyed the cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. A very special event for Rance in 2015 was attending his high school class reunion and sharing wonderful memories. He greatly appreciated meeting people and sharing the friendships of many.

He is survived by a dearly loved son, Jeffrey Keith Brubaker, Lancaster. He was predeceased by a stepbrother, Wm. Larry Sangrey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rance’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the FRED F. GROFF, INC. Funeral Home, 234 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Reverend Robert Zimmerman officiating. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorials in Rance’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
