Matthew L. Krug, 60, of York, won peace and comfort from his long and courageous battle against cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016. He passed away peacefully at York Hospital, surrounded by his family. Matt was born on Sept. 29, 1955 in La Rochelle, France to Earl and Evelyn (Herr) Krug of New Oxford.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his daughter Madelyn Huyett and her husband Nathan Huyett of Yoe, and his son Tyler Krug of York. He is also survived by his brother Jeff Krug and his wife Christina Krug of Hanover; his sister Bobbi Barker and her husband Ron Barker of New Oxford; granddaughter Nevalyn Lauer of Yoe; and loving nephews.
Matt was a retired welder from Harley-Davidson who loved to ride his Sportster in his free time. In addition, Matt loved to play foosball, shoot pool, and watch football. Matt also loved to spend time in his wood-working shop, and loved to create various types of furniture and knick-knacks.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market Street, York with the Rev. Forrest S. “Bud” Bish officiating. Viewings will be held Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m., both at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Madelyn Huyett, 18 E. High Street, Yoe, PA 17313 to help defray funeral costs.
