Lois Kathryn Muro, 90, of New Castle passed away the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Haven Nursing Home.
Born on Dec. 17, 1925, in Lancaster, Pa., she was a daughter of Jacob M. and Iva Pearl Harkins Chambers.
On Dec. 30, 1953, she married her beloved husband, Jose Jesus Muro, and the two spent more than 41 years together, until he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1995.
Lois had worked as a linguist with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Mexico, and she later worked as a salesclerk for an office supplier.
A woman of God who loved the Bible, she was a member of First Assembly of God.
She loved to do things for others. Lois will always be remembered as a very special wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family more than anything else.
Lois is survived by her children, Mariana (Dwight) Campbell of New Castle and Joe G. (Karla) Muro of Newport News, Va.; her brother, John Chambers of Corona, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Chambers; and her brother, Paul Chambers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, co-officiated by Pastor Chad Stoecker of First Assembly of God Church and the Rev. Steven Campbell, Lois’ grandson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
