Lee V. Lauer, 80

Lee V. Lauer, 80, of Tionesta, died on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at Titusville Area Hospital. He was born June 21, 1937, in Oil City, son of the late Albinus and Norma (Graham) Lauer.  

On Aug. 26, 1961, at St. Michael’s Church in Fryburg, he married Judy M. (Lane) Lauer who died June 30, 2014. 

Lee worked 30-plus years as a supervisor of the maintenance department for Evenflo-Crator Manufacturing, in Tionesta. He was a member of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, of Tionesta, where he also served as an usher. He also was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and the Knights of Columbus, in Oil City.  

He served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are a son, David L. Lauer, and his wife, Nicole, of Eden, N.Y.; two daughters, Carol L. Miller and her husband, Cliff, of Curwensville, Teresa L. Waddell and her husband, William, of Pleasantville; five grandchildren, Brandon Miller and his fiancé, Kate McCallan, of Pittsburgh; Emily Kolesar and her husband, Nicholas, of Bethlehem, Lydia Waddell, of Pleasantville; Jack and Jordan Lauer, of Eden; two brothers, James Lauer and his wife, Peg, of Jersey Shore, Robert “Pete” Lauer and his wife, Beverly, of Tionesta; two sisters, Barbara Smerkar, of Lucinda; Connie Charney and her husband, Albert, of McKean; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Loretta Harvey, of Tionesta.   

In addition to his wife and parents, Lee was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen “Dodie” Lauer; two brothers-in-law, Ambrose Smerkar and David Harvey. He was the godfather of Cathy Smerkar, who is also deceased.     

Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home, of Tionesta, on Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony R.C. Church, with Father Joseph Kalinowski celebrating the Mass.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Tionesta.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club Scholarship Fund, 67 Club Alley Lane Fryburg, Pa., 16326.
