Quentin R. Gilbert, Sr., 95, of Nazareth, formerly of Bushkill Township, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Luke’s University Hospital – Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township. He was the husband of Jane L. (Seifert) Gilbert. Together they observed their 71st wedding anniversary on November 4th. Born in Bethlehem on October 06, 1920, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Bertha (Rice) Gilbert. He was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1940. He honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps. World War II, 19th Photo Charting Squadron. Prior to retiring in 1983, Quentin was employed by International Harvester of Allentown, where he worked as a heavy truck mechanic for more than 30 years. Previously, he was a driver and mechanic for the former Klipple’s Bus Line in Bath. Quentin was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and a member and past Treasurer of Star Grange #993 both of Moorestown. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and he was active in Boy Scouts Troop 74. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Jane, he is survived by a son, Quentin R. Gilbert, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn of Plainfield Township; two daughters, Linda J. Kortz and her husband, John of Moore Township and Suzanne J. Allen and her husband, Everett of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Paul Gilbert and his wife, Trisha of Plainfield Township, Ryan Kortz and his wife, Crystal of Wilmington, DE, Charles Allen of Philadelphia, and Dr. David Allen and his wife, Merisa of Coopersburg; six great-grandchildren, Nadia, Maya, Ian, Jacob, Matthew and Mya; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a toddler daughter, Eloise, as well as his six brothers, Charles Jr., Stanford, Raymond, Barthol, Kenneth and Kermit, and his sister, Mildred Harleman. Services: A Memorial Service, with Military Honors, in celebration of Quentin’s life will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in Salem United Church of Christ of Moorestown, 2218 Community Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, Inc., Village of Moorestown – Bath. Contributions: may be made in memory of Quentin to the Historical Society of Salem United Church of Christ of Moorestown.
