George Walter Martin, 92, of Enon Valley, Little Beaver Township, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital. A lifelong resident of Little Beaver Township, George was born on June 6, 1923, to the late Alfred A. and Hilda M. Keebler Martin.
He was married for 69 years to Leita Raney Martin, whom he married on Aug. 15, 1946. She survives. George retired after 20 years from Babcock and Wilcox. However, the job he loved the most was farming.
He was a lifetime active member of the Enon Presbyterian Church, having served in many different capacities.
George was a member of the former Odd Fellows in Enon Valley, Enon Valley Historical Society and was a director of the Little Beaver Cemetery Association. In addition to his wife, Leita, survivors include four children, Alfred (Sondra) Martin, Carol (Dan) Foster, Shawn Martin and Gary Martin, all of Enon Valley. His circle of love included nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Honoring George’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.
Interment took place in Little Beaver Cemetery. A memorial service to honor George will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Enon Presbyterian Church with his pastor, the Rev. Duane Herron, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Enon Presbyterian Church, 230 Church St., Enon Valley, Pa. 16120.
