BARRE- Lillian M. (Trinkner) Fries- passed away at home in Barre, Massachusetts on the evening of Friday January 15, 2016. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. on May 31, 1923. Lillian was the only daughter of Edward and Lillian Mae (Taylor) Trinkner. She spent many happy childhood years in the wise and loving care of her aunt Florence Thomas of Royersford and Schwenksville, PA. Lillian was a generous, independent, industrious and focused person. Fresh out of high school she worked at the Bendix Corporation in Philadelphia manufacturing vehicle parts to support The Allies during the Second World War. She enlisted in the Waves in 1942 and served as a pharmacist mate in the Obstetrics Department of St. Albans Naval Hospital on Staten Island, New York. Lillian held multiple clerical and office management positions in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. She advanced in every professional position due to her energetic organizational contributions. After retirement Lillian lived in Mann’s Choice and Bedford, PA and Carmel, CA.. She moved to Massachusetts in 1990 and was a volunteer at the Barre Senior Center Nutrition program for three years. Lillian, who was an avid reader, loved dogs and cats and she shared her life with many since the time she was a child. Lillian will be missed and always remembered by her son, Stephen Meredith and daughter in law Patricia Lyons of Barre. Also by her granddaughters Eva Meredith of Allston, MA., Caitlin Meredith of Southwest Harbor ME, Bronwyn Umphrey and her great grandson Collin Umphrey both of Ellsworth, ME..
