Boyd was the loving husband of Darcy (Possinger) Gannon. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 25, 2015.
He was born in Stroudsburg on Jan. 15, 1938, the son of the late Delmont and Edith (Learn) Gannon.
Boyd had owned and operated Boyd G. Gannon Horseshoeing in Kunkletown for 45 years. He had a wide network of clients and friends. He had been an owner and breeder of American Quarter Horses for more than five decades. He and his wife Darcy owned and operated Mountain View Farm in Kunkletown since 1984.
Boyd was a founding member of the large-animal rescue group, Pocono Animal Rescue, which was established in September 2000, after the rescue of four starving horses in the Cresco area. He became certified as a humane police officer in April 2001, and subsequently assisted in the rescue of a number of neglected horses, cows, goats and pigs in the area. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Cutting Horse Association.
He served our country with dedication and courage in the U.S. Army National Guard.
