Carl Allen, 84, of Bethlehem, PA and formerly of Durham Twp., PA passed away Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. He was born August 21, 1931 in Hillsborough, NJ, a son of the late George and Phoebe Mason Allen. Carl had a great love for the state of Vermont where he spent some of his childhood years. He was the 22nd child of 23 children. Since the age of 15, Carl started his life long career as a truck driver working for several different local and coast to coast trucking companies. When he was not working he enjoyed spending time with his family which included being outdoors fishing and hunting with his children. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was a good auto mechanic. He will be missed by his wife, Dorothy, of 64 years and his four children, Emery and his wife Toni, Glenn, June Brown and her husband Charlie and Wayne and is wife Ellen. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two sisters, Wilma Stout and Gloria Boekhout. He was preceded in death by four children, Carl, Franklin, Mark and Fannie. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. in the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home. No calling hours. Ashes will be scattered in Vermont at a later time. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lehigh Valley Health Network, Development Office Cancer Center, PO Box 4000, Allentown, PA 18105 in memory of Carl Allen.
