Janet L. (Griffey) Root, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine. She was born in Franklin County, Ohio on June 23, 1933 to the late Otto E. and Kathryn (Mohler) Griffey. On January 28, 1955, she married Stuart Gene Root and he survives.
She is also survived by a son, Mark (Rosanna) Root of Lancaster; a daughter, Teri (Donald) Murad of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Casey (Amy) Root, Shane Root (Rosee Cooper), and Kristen Murad; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Janet was a member of the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Hamilton Township in 1952. Janet spent 29 years as a secretary for Hamilton Tanks. She loved animals and enjoyed flowers, crafts, and her time on the lake feeding the ducks and birds. She loved spending time with her family. A beautiful light has gone out and all who loved her will miss her.
Pastor Edward Engelbrecht will officiate a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 80 E. Markison Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43207. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Burial will take place at the Harrison Township Cemetery located off State Route 23 south of State Route 316 in the Village of South Bloomfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
