Jackie Jeanne Jones Mitchell, 70, went home to be with the Lord, Friday afternoon, and September 7, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Jackie was born on July 19, 1948 in Forsyth County to Billy Gray and Dorothy Smith Jones. She was a long time member of Palmyra United Methodist Church, and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Nurse with 40 years of service. Jackie was a member of the South Stokes Fire Department, Ladies’ Auxiliary, her passion was helping people and showing unconditional love to anyone she came in contact with. She loved cooking, baking and was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Billy Gray Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Jimmy Gray Mitchell; mother, Dorothy Smith Barrett; sons, Bradley Gray Mitchell (Martha) and Chad Jimmy Mitchell (Jasmine); 6 grandchildren; Matthew Mitchell (Anisha), Ryan Mitchell, Cody Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell, Luke Mitchell and Caliber Mitchell; 1 sister; Jane Mankins (Gary); 2 brothers, Mike Jones and Billy Jones (Linda); special aunts, Virginia Smith and Hilda Carroll (Leroy) and Ernestine Boles (Bobby); uncle, Larry Jones (Treava); 2 brother-in-law’s; Bill Mitchell and Harold Mitchell; special nieces and nephews; Michael Jones, Rebecca Williams (Harold), Brooke Jones and Kelley Baker (Matt); and her 2 fur babies, Sassy and Bear.

There will a 3:00pm, Memorial service held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Palmyra United Methodist Church with Pastor Garrett Collins and Pastor Jeff Jeffers officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 2-3 pm at Palmyra United Methodist Church and other times at the home of Bradley and Martha Mitchell.
