WILLIAM P. HANNIGAN

William P. Hannigan of Fort Montgomery, NY passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 93 years old.

Son of the late William H. Hannigan and Catherine Quirk Hannigan, he was born on December 11, 1922 in Stony Point, NY.

He was a retired Supervisor of the Finance and Accounting Office at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. William was a World War II Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW Post 15033 and the American Legion Post 0633, both of Highland Falls, NY, as well as a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Chapter #59.

Survivors include his daughters: Nancy J. Hannigan of Highland Falls, NY, and Jean M. Hannigan of Beacon, NY; his brothers: Joseph D. Hannigan and James H. Hannigan, both of Stony Point, NY; grandson, William F. Schaeffer, and great-grandson, William F. Schaeffer, Jr. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria W. Hannigan, and his sister, Mary H. Maher.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 18th at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19th at Blessed Sacrament Chapel, Fort Montgomery, NY. Interment will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Highland Falls, NY.
