ONEONTA — Rose Ann Hassick, 64, of Oneonta, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1951, in Oneonta, the daughter of Carmen Joseph Vagliardo Sr. and Verna O’Rourke.
She married Michael H. Hassick on Aug. 20, 1971, in Milford Center.
A lifelong area resident, Rose graduated from Oneonta High School in 1969. She later attended Utica School of Commerce and received a certificate in business administration.
She was employed for many years at Wilber National Bank and eventually retired from Oneonta Job Corps as a data integrity clerk.
Rose enjoyed bowling on the local Strike & Spare League and playing softball on the City Softball League. She would often volunteer as scorekeeper for the men’s softball games. She was an avid crocheter and gifted many afghans to family and friends.
She was a member of the Oneonta Moose Lodge No. 465.
A devoted grandmother and natural caregiver, Rose was always there to help and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael Hassick of Oneonta; sons, Robert and Janine Hassick of Canajoharie and Brian and Kristina Hassick of Milford; four grandchildren, Kyle, Marina, Logan and Josh; father, Carmen Vagliardo Sr. of Winter Haven, Florida; brothers, Carmen Jr. and Vicki Vagliardo of Oneonta and James and Margot Vagliardo of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother, Verna O’Rourke.
Friends may call on the family from 5 to 7 p.m, Monday, Jan. 25, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta.
A graveside service will take place in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
