Reuben F. Hull Sr. a lifelong resident of Ellenville, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Volunteer Firemen’s Home in Hudson, NY. He was 90 years old. Ruby was born on November 30, 1925 in Ellenville; he was one of 21 children born to Chauncey and Vice (Purcell) Hull.
Ruby had worked for 32 years as a receiving clerk for Channel Master until its closing. On April 22, 1962 he married Catherine (Behme) Hull at the Ellenville Reformed Church where he was an adherent. He was a life member, past chief and past president of the Kimble Hose Fire Company, an associate member of Pioneer Engine Company, a member of the Masons as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Shawangunk Seniors. Ruby also held an interest in antique cars and coin collecting.
In addition to his wife, Kay, Ruby is survived by their children: Reuben Hull Jr. and his wife, Liesl of Schenectady and James Hull and his wife, Jennifer of Massachusetts; his brothers: Robert, Gerald “Joey” and Warren Hull; his sisters: Jessie Smith, Kathleen “Patty” McCarthy, Charmion Stewart and Murial Giorgianni; his grandchildren: Sarah, Nicholas, Kirsten, Brenna, Ethan and Reese.
Ruby was predeceased by his son, Peter Scott Hull as well as 13 siblings.
Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 17th at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 N. Main St., Ellenville. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. at the Ellenville Reformed Church. Burial will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery.
