CAMILLUS — Clifford L. Lucas, 85, of Camillus, formerly of Union Springs, passed away on Sept. 15, 2017, at St. Camillus. He was the son of the late Walter and Pearl Moyer Lucas. Cliff was an avid golfer and a member of the “hole-in-one club.” He took great pride in helping his students, guiding them as a counselor and teacher for many years in the Union Springs School District. He was held in high esteem by his fellow colleagues. Cliff had an adventurous spirit who enjoyed playing poker and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by a wife, Mary Lucas of Camillus; a son, Andrew Lucas and his wife Kimberly of Union Springs, three daughters: Vicki Lucas-Lader of Freeville and Brian Lader; Pamela Merkle and her husband Bruce of Englewood, Florida; Carolyn Noto and her husband Steven of Yardley, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren: David Merkle, Elizabeth Lader, Abigail Lader, Austin Thomas, and Aurora Lucas; a half brother Dennis Lucas of Pennsylvania; Aunt Betty Lou Vranesic and her husband John of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Clifford was predeceased by his grandson Paul Merkle.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, NY.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at St. Michael’s Church, 162 Cayuga St., Union Springs, NY.
Burial will be St. Michael’s Cemetery with military honors following the mass.
