Bratt, Willard Robert

Willard Bratt, a man of gentle heart, quick wit, warm smile and bright blue eyes, died peacefully Sunday, December 20th in his 88th year. Born to Harry and Grace Bratt on April 6, 1928, Willard was a lifetime resident of Syracuse and a graduate of Vocational High School. Following two years at Bethany College in West Virginia, Willard married Barbara Hunt and was employed by Marble Farms Dairy where he worked as Plant Manager for over 40 years. Willard was a self taught handyman and his hands were never idle. There was always a project in need of repair, renovation, refinishing or refurbishing. Willard and Barbara enjoyed family gatherings, travel, square dancing and antique shows. They were devoted caregivers to loved ones. Willard was a faithful member of the Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. For more than 50 years, he spent countless hours in volunteer service to his church family and was beloved by all.
Willard was predeceased by: Barbara, his wife of 60 years; son, Kevin; brother, Harry Sumner Bratt; sisters, Ruma Adams and Nancy DeVeronica.
He is survived by: sons, Robert (Victoria), Eric (Diane), Brian; daughter, Wendy (Michael); eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brothers, Peter, Richard and David Bratt; brother-in-law, Richard Hunt and sister-in-law, Cindy Hammond.
Special thanks to the caring staff of The Centers at St. Camillus. In recent years, Willard was shown many kindnesses as he participated in exercise class, caregiver support group, out patient PT, in patient rehab, and as a 3rd floor resident.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 11 a.m. in Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Terry Road, Syracuse.
