Michael H. Viola, 91, retired Inquirer photographer

Michael H. Viola, 91, of Manayunk, a retired Inquirer photographer who sought perfection in the images he captured, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, of cancer at his home.

Mr. Viola joined the newspaper in 1948 and worked until his retirement in October 1988. He loved the job, his family said.

George S. Fiske, 94, formerly of Basking Ridge, World War II Army veteran

George Samuel Fiske, 94, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2017.

Born in Ventnor, he was the son of the late George W. and Mildred Johnson Fiske.

Mr. Fiske served in World War II as an Army infantryman in the 100th Division from 1943 to 1946. He was wounded while fighting in France and airlifted to a hospital in England.

After recovering, he joined the Army of Occupation in Germany. read more

Louise “Mim” Adams Donner, 106, formerly of Bernardsville, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017.

She was born on Aug. 19, 1911, in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved when very young with her family to Indianapolis, Ind.

Andy was born in Paterson to Andrew F. and Margaret Gross.

Philip G. Jones, 94, formerly of Bernardsville and the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at the Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus.

He was born in Marstons Mills, Mass., on April 11, 1923.

Mr. Jones proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. His record of service began in December 1942, and included serving on the USS Satterlee DD 626 read more
