Carmela Sandra “Sandy” Lane, 67, a beloved mother and sister, passed away at her home in Bernardsville on the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 15, 2017.
The former Carmela Renda, she was born in Plainfield on Sept. 27, 1949, and grew up in Green Brook, the oldest of her six siblings.
She worked as a certified public accountant for more than 40 years. Carmela’s extensive family and large circle of friends will never forget her sense of humor, work ethic and values.
She loved to read, play Scrabble, visit with friends and family and travel.
Carmela truly led by quiet example and always exhibited strength during difficult times.
She is survived by her sons, Philip and Matthew; her siblings, Laura, Ernest, Michelle, Phyllis, Joanne and Alfred; as well as 19 nieces and nephews.
Carmela was predeceased by her beloved son, Joseph, in 2009; by her father, Ernest, in 2006; and by her mother, the former Bibbiana Sabatino, in 2012.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge. A funeral Mass was scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville.
