McInerney, Ruth Ann,
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Francis Home. Age 78 years. The daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Hagen) Ryan, Ruth was born March 19, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Terry McInerney, her loving husband of 56 years, on August 15, 1959. He survives her. Ruth attended Michigan State University and graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1959. She was employed at New Grace Hospital in Detroit. Ruth was later employed by Valley OBGYN for 20 years where she worked for several doctors including her dear friend, Dr. James McCourt, until her retirement in 1997. Ruth was a member of St. Dominic Parish- St. Stephen Site and the Nurses Alumni Association. Ruth and Terry retired to Tawas in 1998 and had volunteered at Holy Family Catholic School in East Tawas. Ruth enjoyed camping, boating, bird watching, walking and loved time spent with her family and friends.
Surviving besides her husband Terry are four daughters, one son and their spouses, Ellen (Ellie) and Jim Terry, Saginaw; Matthew (Matt) and Leslie McInerney, Saginaw; Carrie and Pat Schultz, Saginaw; Julie and Carlos Guimbarda, Suwanee, Georgia; Marna and Bill Novak, Melbourne, Florida; 13 grandchildren, Karly, Kerstin, Kevin, Ryan, Eric, Logan, Lauren, Collin, Kieran, Nicholas, Marissa, Sydney and Briegan; one brother and two sisters, Thomas and Carol Ryan, Harbor Springs; Helen and Lyle Davis, Frankenmuth; Colleen and Ken Anderson, Zephyrhills, Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Ruth’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to St. Francis Home and Heartland Health Care for their loving and compassionate care.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. Dominic Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church Site, 2711 Mackinaw in Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Sharon Wahl, will take place 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the St. Francis Home.
