Norman Edward Roger, 92, of Caseville, died January 11, 2016 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
Norm was born November 17, 1923 in Detroit to the late Joseph Jules and Florence Ethel (Lyon) Roger. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1941. He served in the US Army during World War II as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. On July 25, 1964 he married Mary A. Marsh at St. Bede Catholic Church in Southfield.
Norm retired from Burroughs/Unisys as a technician in 1979. He moved from South Lyon to Caseville in 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and St. Roch Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports, birdwatching, music and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary; children Cindy (Michael) Yantus of Macomb, Lynda (Greg) Bednarczyk of Brighton, Holly (Curt) Pavia of Bellingham, Washington and Michael of Caseville; grandchildren Hana, Ryan, Emma, Joseph, Francis, Leonardo and Sylas; and sister June Martin of Troy. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ludger and Arnold and sisters Florence Huhn and Yvonne Jackson.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 15th at St. Roch-OLPH Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Interment will be 1:00pm Friday, January 22nd at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
Visitation will be 2-8 pm Thursday. There will be an Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. He will lie in-state one hour prior to mass on Friday in church.
