James Edward Runyan, age 84, of Hale, Michigan passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
James was born May 30, 1931 to Wesley and Julia Runyan on their family farm. The majority of his career Jim was a press operator, and retired from working at the Valenite Company. Jim enjoyed farming, fishing, rabbit hunting, and traveling to the U. P. He loved watching the grandkids and their friends compete at the school games. He attended as many football, soccer, baseball, and track games as possible to cheer for his kids. Jim loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They knew if someone told them “no” they could always just go ask Grandpa Jim and he would get it for them.
He is survived by his children, Mary E. Runyan, James L. Runyan, and G. Michael (Kam) Runyan; grandchildren, Julia Irwin, Wesley Runyan, Ryan Runyan, Samantha Stout, Christine Orr, Katlyn Runyan, Kassey Runyan, and Penny Runyan; 10 great grandchildren with one on the way; and sister Lola (Bill) Seaver. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years Janet Runyan; and siblings Dave Runyan, Basil Runyan, Wesley “Joe” Runyan, Dale Runyan, Eugene Runyan, Neva Caton, Viola Runyan, and Julia “Dolly” Runyan.
Visitation will be held at the Buresh Funeral Home, 121 S. Washington Street in Hale on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pastor Brenda Klacking will be officiating the funeral and interment at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery in Hale.
