Helen Caroline Rogner, 98 of Reese, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 10:40 PM at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. She was born October 3, 1917 in Arbela Township, MI, daughter of the late Mike and Bertha (Haubenstricker) Daenzer. She was married to Erhardt Rogner on January 1, 1939 and they were together 61 years until he passed away February 18, 2000. Helen lived on the Rogner family farm until mid-summer 2010 when she moved to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar for the past 40 years and St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Richville prior to that.
Surviving is her son Kenneth Rogner and his wife Patricia (Weston) of Reese; her daughter Kathleen Gilliland of Bucyrus, MO; as well as grandchildren Chris Rogner of Reese; Stacey (Rogner) Cartledge and her husband Charles of Ladera Ranch, CA; Julie Gilliland and her husband, Charles Smith of Medina, Ohio; and Brian Gilliland of Bucyrus, MO; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her son Benjamin Rogner, October 23, 2000, her son in law, Linwood Gilliland and her sister, Erna Daenzer.
The family would like to especially thank those who came to visit and the entire staff at Tuscola County Medical Care Community who helped Helen for more than five years to keep that bright smile on her face.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2016 from the Grace Lutheran Church, 885 Saginaw St. Vassar, MI. Pastor Jackie Spangler Ahern will officiate with private family committal services to take place later in the Denmark Township Cemetery in Reese. Helen’s family will receive visitors at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 9940 Saginaw St in Reese on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service.
