Frederick W. Kausch
Frederick W. Kausch, 77, of Sanford, formerly of Owendale, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his home of complications due to Parkinson’s. He was born in Sebewaing on August 1, 1938, the son of Gustav and Mabel (Wissner) Kausch. He was united in marriage on July 8, 1961 to Diana Hatlas at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.
Fred attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated in 1956 from Sebewaing High School. He joined the Navy and served in Italy, Greece, Cuba and Lebanon. He was a member of the Navy Reserve. Fred owned and operated “Kausch Trucking” for 38 years, hauling milk in three counties and operating a Pump-Over Station on Canboro Road near Owendale. He was a positive, friendly person who always waved to everyone. Fred was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sanford, MI. He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Detroit Tigers and listening to country music. He also loved watching his grandkids play in sports activities. He spent his summers in Michigan and winters in Zephyrhills, Florida for many years.
Fred is survived by his wife, Diana, two daughters, Annette (Phillip) Frank of Midland and Michelle (William) Kangas of Buford, Georgia, two sons, Kevin (Laura) Kausch of Deford and Michael (Sandra) Kausch of Newaygo, and nine grandchildren, Chelsey and Lauren Frank; Kyle, Logan, Troy and Claire Kausch; Nolan and Kylee Kangas; and Anna Maria Kausch. He is also survived by his sister Gretchen Haist of Sebewaing and his brother Curt Kausch of Peoria, Illinois.
Friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life during a memorial service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sanford, on January 16, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Samuel Reith officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Heartland Hospice, Michigan Parkinson Foundation or the Thumb Octagon Barn.
Arrangements are under the care of the Smith-Miner Funeral Home.
