Henry K. Shelegey, D.D.S., age 89 years, passed away on January 22, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. He was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on September 28, 1926 to the late William and Mary Shelegey. Henry graduated from the University of Detroit Dental School in 1954. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 as a Captain, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Following the war, he practiced dentistry in Bay City for over 45 years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association and the Saginaw Dental Society. Henry enjoyed traveling, University of Michigan Football, hockey and wintering in Arizona. On September 5, 1953, he married his beloved Bernice P. Woynarski in Toronto, Canada. He is survived by his wife Bernice, his daughter, Kli-Anne Shelegey-Elnick, D.D.S., her husband, Alan Elnick, M.D., 2 dear grandchildren: Bailey Elnick and Alaina Elnick, a cousin, Alex Shelegey, a sister-in-law, Jean Herniak in Cobourg, Ontario and many extended family members in Waterford, Canada. He was preceded in death by his dear son, Lyle Henry Shelegey and his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Annie Woynarski. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, with burial following in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart and Lung Association.
