Doris Kinch-Holmes, 91 of Standish passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Medilodge Nursing Facility in Sterling. Doris was the youngest child born to Irwin and Effie Mae (Johnson) Kinch on August 27, 1924 at their family home in Omer, Michigan. She attended the one room Hickory Island School as a child. Later in life going back to complete her high school GED and attended Delta Community College. Her career was long and varied starting out working with her father in the family gravel and trucking business. Later on after college she developed and sold her own real estate. Doris loved the outdoors and nature, was an animal lover with a especial love of horses and dogs. She was a religious woman and enjoyed country music. Doris was family oriented with her proudest accomplishments being her daughter and grandson. She was happiest at home with family enjoying quality time with her loved ones and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Doris is survived by her loving daughter and son in law, Elaine (Robert) Fitzgerald of Standish, grandson, Ryan Fitzgerald of Standish; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Effie Mae Kinch; 1 brother Edward Kinch, Sr; 1 sister, Lela Mehl; and 2 nephews, Edward Kinch, Jr and David Kinch. Her family will welcome friends at the Buresh Funeral Home in Twining on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rick Rockwell officiating.
