Beloved daughter, wife, step-mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at her home. Age 61 years. The daughter of Gerald and Patricia (Rivett) Greenwald, Deborah was born on September 15, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Barry Shafer on June 11, 2005. He survives her. Deborah was Vice-President of the family business, Westbay Honda. She was also the office manager for Bebow Entities in St. Louis, Michigan for over 10 years. Deborah was a past president of the Michigan Reining Horse Association. She enjoyed the outdoors, photography, sports and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her niece.
Surviving besides her husband Barry; are her parents, Gerald and Patricia Greenwald, Bentley Michigan; her brother, Jerry Greenwald, Lainsburg, Michigan; her sister, Roxanne (Jan) Greenwald-Salgat, Caro; her niece, Jessica Greenwald; her mother-in-law, Shirley Schramke, Hale; her father-in-law, Harold (Angie) Shafer, Tennessee; her step-son, Brian (Fayola) Shafer, Garden City; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Samantha, Alisha and Tyler; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Diane (Richard) Leonard, Michael Schramke, Patricia (Paul) Allen, Tracy (Shauna) Schramke, John (Nancy) Shafer, Linda Shafer and Andy (Penny) Shafer.
Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Hopevale Church, 4873 N. Center Rd. Pastor Ken MacGillivray will officiate with interment to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), were the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
