Mrs. Helen Rachel Walker Rogers of Alton passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the age of 81.
She was born in Person County, North Carolina, on April 6, 1936 as the daughter of the late Howard Walker and Lucy Vicks Walker and was married to the late Roy Singleton Rogers.
Mrs. Rogers was a retired employee of Sales Knitting and enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens. She also loved her grandchildren, shopping and flea markets.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her sons, Charles Bowes (Pam) of Semora, North Carolina, and Mark Bowes (Tammy) of Timberlake, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Susie Bowes of Bethel Hill, North Carolina, and Evelyn Hatcher of Roxboro, North Carolina; brother Sam Walker of Roxboro, North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sons, Anthony Jordan and Robert Bowes, daughters Shelia Bowes Anderson and Penny Bowes, brothers Charlie, Willie and Junior Walker and sisters Betty Harris, Eva Walker and Mary Harris.
Funeral services for Helen will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
